Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule (Nigerian Mining)

The Nasarawa State Government has signed a 10-year agreement with Ganfeng Mining Company to exploit lithium in the state.

The agreement will see Ganfeng invest $1.5 million in the state and establish a lithium mining and processing plant in Endo. The state government will also receive annual payments from Ganfeng.

The agreement was reached in the presence of Nasarawa State Governor, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule and the senior executives of Ganfeng Mining Company.

In a press release seen by Nigerianmining, “Governor Sule has directed that these resources be invested in the host community and the state at large, paving the way for a new era of economic growth and development,” the state Director of Strategic Communication added.

In October 2023, President Bola Tinubu laid the foundation for $250m Ganfeng Lithium factory in Endo community of Udege Development Area of the state.

In June 2024, Avatar New Energy Materials Co Ltd, a Chinese firm, commissioned the largest lithium processing plant in Africa.
