The Kano State Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources has reiterated its commitment to identifying and estimating solid mineral reserves in the state.
This commitment was reaffirmed during an interactive session with representatives from Alwein International SMC, a leading core drilling exploration firm operating across Africa. The meeting, held in the ministry’s conference room, was detailed in a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Adamu Ibrahim Dabo, MNGE.
Commissioner Alhaji Hamza Safiyanu, represented by Permanent Secretary Engineer Mansur Yakubu, stressed the crucial role of accurate mineral deposit estimates in attracting investors. He underscored the importance of collaboration in exploration efforts, acknowledging the financial challenges associated with core drilling. He also highlighted the ministry’s plan to seek support from international organisations such as the World Bank and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to enhance exploration activities.

Alhaji Zaharaddeen Wada, Project Manager and Team Lead at Alwein International SMC, advocated for a renewed focus on assessing Kano’s mineral reserves. He revealed that the firm has fourteen drilling machines ready for deployment, with the capacity to drill at least 2,000 meters in two daily shifts.
Key ministry officials, including Muhammad Bala, Muhammad Usman Sa’id, Suwaiba Sadeh, and Garba Ibrahim Karaye, contributed insights during the discussion.
According to Adamu Ibrahim Dabo, the ministry remains committed to leveraging the expertise of Alwein International SMC and exploring further partnerships to advance solid mineral exploration in Kano State.
