The Nigerian Mining Week 2024 officially begins today, 18 November, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. The three-day event will bring together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss opportunities and challenges within Nigeria’s mining sector.

Now in its ninth year, the conference, organised by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development in partnership with the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), PwC, and the Vuka Group, carries the theme “From the Inside Out: Building the Mining Sector to Be the Cornerstone of Nigeria’s Economy”

Driving Immediate Action

Today’s agenda opens discussions on Nigeria’s vast mineral wealth and how the country can turn its resources into engines of economic transformation. Delegates will address key topics such as:

  • Strengthening policies and regulations for sustainable development.
  • Positioning Nigeria as a leading destination for global mining investment.
  • Integrating critical minerals into industrialisation efforts, including the development of the iron and steel sectors.

Special focus sessions will explore the role of women in mining, subnational governance in resource management, and the latest technologies reshaping the sector. Attendees can also engage in a CEO roundtable that promises to spotlight leadership strategies for growth.

Transforming Nigeria’s Economy

The event reflects the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises job creation, value addition, and sustainable economic growth through mining. The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that Nigeria’s mineral resources benefit communities equitably while boosting foreign and domestic investment.
