Gorvernor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s mining reforms and other good governance initiatives have been hailed by a number of expatriate groups as “impressive and unprecedented” since the state’s founding.

While travelling from the United Kingdom to Nigeria following a livestock conference in Northern France, the governor hosted a number of Osun State leaders and natives in London. Many of them listed a number of areas in which the state has been recognised globally for its excellent governance.

Osun UK Professionals, under the leadership of Bimbo Adekemi, expressed surprise at the governor’s rapid speed of state-wide infrastructure upgrades during a period of difficult economic conditions throughout Nigeria.

The team concluded that undertaking infra improvement is a wise way of boosting the regional economy and creating a business-friendly atmosphere to draw capital to the state.

It praised Governor Adeleke in particular for his bravery in standing up to mining firms operating in the state and referred to the current conflict with Thors Explorations Limited as “a courageous move by selfless leader.”

“We regard the state governor’s daring action in issuing the demand notice to Thors Explorations as noteworthy. While some seek negotiations behind closed doors, Governor Adeleke is attempting to get the money owed to Osun State. For the first time, a governor is requesting verification of the state’s shareholding, paying PAYE as required by law, and criticising mining companies instead of asking for gold bars. degradation of the environment.

“We applaud the governor’s bravery in his efforts to save state financial resources. Please persevere in your numerous attempts to provide excellent governance. It is encouraged for many of us here to search for home-based investments back home.

A different organisation called the Osun UK Royal organisation, chaired by Timileyin Oluyemi Ajayi from Ijeshaland, claimed that via implementing effective programs in the areas of digital economy, health, education, agriculture, climate change, and infrastructure, Governor Adeleke has increased the optimism of many Osun natives living in Europe.

“Your Excellency, we commend your dedication to public service and your forward-thinking approach to governance,” he said. We have read everything you are doing, and when our members went to your house, they also returned with stories of you being such a large number of towns and villages. We take great pride in being Osun natives.

“Among other things, you have given Osun new initiatives for cashew and cocoa, as well as new policies for technology, energy, and procurement. With billions going to small companies and craftspeople, you are making enormous progress in cooperatives and empowerment.

“You are paying pension and salary debt in the billions of naira. One of your top priorities is worker welfare, which you have accomplished so superbly. It is quite remarkable to consider that you have accomplished so much in less than two years. In anticipation of the 2026 governorship race, Prince Oluyemi declared on the group’s behalf, “We’re going home to register to vote.”

Governor Adeleke assured the different Osun indigenes in London that his administration is ready to accomplish more in the service of the people, expressing his joy at the favourable feedback from the diaspora community.

Describing his major purpose as selfless service, Governor Adeleke underlined that leadership is about service and that he is running a race to raise Osun State and its people as rapidly as feasible.

We have been in office for less than two years, he stated. “We are engaged in a race for decent government. My goal is to complete a four-year plan ahead of schedule. Osun State is requesting immediate action to close the enormous developmental gap, which is the reason.”
