Zamfara Plans for Economic Transformation with Responsible Mining Initiatives

The Zamfara State government in Nigeria has reaffirmed its dedication to fostering sustainable economic growth by leveraging its vast natural resources. Speaking at the Solid Minerals Development Summit and Exhibition in Pakistan on April 8-9, Alhaji Kasimu Kaura, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, outlined the state’s approach to harnessing its mining potential.

    In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Information Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, Kaura revealed that Zamfara plans to achieve sustainable growth through strategic partnerships with foreign investors, development partners, and international organisations. The commissioner underscored the importance of responsible resource management, which prioritises environmental sustainability and the well-being of local communities.

    Kaura explained that the state aims to attract significant investment, create job opportunities, and improve infrastructure, particularly within the mining sector, which he believes holds immense potential for transforming the local economy. He also highlighted Zamfara’s strategy to access advanced technologies, expertise, and funding to modernise mining operations while ensuring environmental protection.

    The commissioner credited Governor Dauda Lawal for his leadership in unlocking the state’s resource potential and driving progress in Zamfara’s mining sector. The government’s strategy aims to position the state as a leading player in responsible and sustainable mining, contributing to long-term economic growth.
