Nigeria’s military and security services received a marching order from President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, telling them that it is imperative that they crack down on the illegal miners who are littering the country’s landscape.

Additionally, he gave his word that his administration would make sure that the host communities and Nigerian citizens’ health and safety come first in resource exploration businesses. The President gave instructions to security agencies to step up their efforts to crack down on illegal miners nationwide while attending a presentation given by participants in Course 32 of the National Defence College (NDC) in Abuja titled

“Harnessing the Mining Industry for Enhanced National Security and Development: Strategic Options for Nigeria by 2035.”

He said “We have problems with scavengers and exploiters all over the nation. We have to stop that right away, and You military officers are more aware of the need to stop that early than the general public. The Program Over the course of an 11-month study, 32 participants were assigned to conduct research on current national concerns. Their results centred on the capacity of the mining industry to support both national growth and security. President Tinubu praised the delegation’s work and emphasised the significance of diversifying Nigeria’s economy in his response to Colonel Olajide Bello’s presentation.”I have listened intently to your presentation on the theme,” he remarked. 

“I must express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your work in aiding the country, even beyond your expertise in security and war. Your intellectual depth was evident.I understand the diversity of the financial system. I have listened intently to your presentation on the theme,” he remarked. 

“In addition to your expertise in security and warfare, I was impressed by the depth of thought put into the work done to support the country, and I have to thank each and every one of you. I acknowledge the importance of economic diversification, and we have been working hard to achieve it. “We anticipate that through your command, we will have more resources that we need to ensure we have a stable economic environment. Your involvement will also help people grasp the concerns better.”

The team received assurances from President Tinubu that his administration would see to it that the NDC headquarters in Abuja were completed.During an interactive session, the President addressed the potential health effects of exploration efforts and expressed worry concerning the safety of locals who reside close to mining zones.

“We must address that right away by establishing medical centres and other facilities that will safeguard Nigerians’ lives, property, and health,” he said.

Earlier in his speech, NDC Commandant Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu stated that 2,871 participants have graduated from the college since it was founded as the National War College in 1992.He said that the college has had students from Bangladesh, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Nepal, and Pakistan in addition to thirty African nations.According to Olotu, the college has started on historically large-scale infrastructure enhancements thanks to the President’s generosity, enabling it to compete favourably with any other defence college in the world.However, he pleaded with President Tinubu to help finish the college’s permanent site.
