Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has extended a formal invitation to Belarus to engage in joint mineral resource mining, as part of broader efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance economic collaboration between the two nations.
Following a cordial and productive meeting with his Belarusian counterpart, Mnangagwa praised the deepening friendship between Harare and Minsk. He noted that the two countries had made significant strides in their co-operation over recent years and affirmed their shared commitment to expanding their partnership.
“Zimbabwe’s strategic location makes it an ideal hub for the distribution of Belarusian goods across the wider region,” Mnangagwa stated. “This partnership is vital for the development of our industries and national economy.”

Highlighting opportunities for joint ventures, the Zimbabwean leader identified the mining of minerals as a key area for collaboration. He also encouraged the development of a shared investment framework to increase productivity and foster economic growth in both countries.
Mnangagwa added that Zimbabwe is keen to explore co-operation in areas such as waste recycling and water treatment, where Belarus possesses valuable expertise and technological innovations that could be of great benefit.
The president stressed the importance of solid bilateral ties in the current global climate, stating that both nations are committed to enhancing their collaboration through international platforms. He reiterated Zimbabwe’s opposition to sanctions, arguing they impede progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
“We remain steadfast in our support for the removal of sanctions imposed on our countries,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Mnangagwa expressed heartfelt thanks to the people of Belarus for their ongoing friendship and solidarity with Zimbabwe.
