In order to ensure smooth execution of the eight presidential priorities, the management personnel of the Ministry and Agencies has been cautioned by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, to instill the value of diligence in their work.
Dr. Alake used the passage “Seest thou a diligent man in his business?” from Chapter 22, verse 29 of the Book of Proverbs to support his point on diligence. He is going to stand before kings, not unkind people.Speaking at the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development’s 2024 Ministerial Step-Down Retreat, the Minister emphasised in his keynote speech that Ministry employees must adopt a diligent mindset in order to work towards achieving the priority areas established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.He states that the deliverables point of the Ministry is under Priority Area 4.”Unlocking Energy and Natural Resources for Sustainable Development” is Priority Area four (4), and it appears that this is where the Ministry’s deliverables fit in. It is imperative that progress be made in this important field since the Nigerian economy needs the mineral industry to grow rapidly.

With everyone in this room working together, I think we can positively catalyse the Nigerian economy, given the boundless value this sector can offer,” Dr. Alake continued.Further elaborating on the significance of the Ministerial Retreat, the Minister stated: “We will have the chance to participate in productive conversations, particularly regarding the Ministry’s seven-point plan, exchange best practices, gather ideas, and discover creative strategies to actualise the eight (8) Presidential priorities through the eighteen (18) deliverables. Dr. Alake addressed the assembly of Directors and Director-Generals of Agencies under the Ministry, highlighting the need for attendees to uphold due diligence in their roles and reinforcing the Ministry’s mandate to add value. He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to rewarding diligence and performance and holding those who fall short of expectations accountable.
Dr. Alake thanked both domestic and foreign investors for their unwavering commitment to the success of the sector and promised to continue supporting them so that they could conduct business. He also praised the joint efforts of the Ministry and the Committees on Solid Minerals Development at the Senate and Federal House of Representatives.
