The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has arrested three individuals involved in illegal mining and armoured cable theft, estimated to be worth N3.3 million.

    The NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Daniel Aidamenbor, announced the arrests in a statement released in Akure on Wednesday.

    According to Aidamenbor, two suspects, Modashiru Nasiru (18) and Hassan Yahya (19), were apprehended on August 13 for engaging in unlicensed mining activities in the Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo areas of the state.

    In a separate incident, another suspect, Aloa Segun (40), was arrested for stealing armoured cables. During the investigation, armoured cables, recline cables, and a generator, all valued at N3.3 million, were recovered from the suspect.

    Aidamenbor confirmed that the suspects would face prosecution once the investigations are completed.
