With strong moral principles and high professional standards, Onoja is set to achieve even more success in his career, following in the footsteps of the NSCDC’s Commandant General, Abubakar Ahmed Audi.

Under the leadership of Commandant General Audi, the NSCDC’s Special Mining Marshals have achieved remarkable success in tackling illegal mining in Nigeria. More than 200 suspects have been apprehended, and over 133 cases are currently in court. Minerals worth millions have been confiscated, depriving illegal miners of their profits, and the environmental and social damage they caused is being mitigated.

Despite resistance from local mafias, the marshals, supported by Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake, continue to make progress. Through a combination of physical enforcement and intelligence gathering, they aim to stop the detrimental impacts of illegal mining, which have devastated communities like Okaba in Kogi State.

The success of the Mining Marshals is a beacon of hope for other sectors battling similar challenges. To fully realize Nigeria’s mining potential, legal frameworks, security, and political determination are crucial. With sustained commitment, Nigeria’s mineral resources could drive significant national development, benefiting the entire population.
