Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, emphasised the importance of non-oil exports for Nigeria’s economy at a recent stakeholders’ reception hosted by Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL). SROL, Nigeria’s first gold exploration and production company, organised the event following its participation in the Nigeria Mining Week.
Speaking at the reception, Oduwole praised SROL for its resilience and significant contributions to economic diversification.
“Non-oil exports are vital for Nigeria’s economy,” Oduwole said. “They are a priority for the President and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment. We need productivity, competitiveness, and encouragement for firms like SROL. Your perseverance and indefatigable spirit exemplify the best of Nigerian entrepreneurship.”
She also recognised SROL as a Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) export champion.
SROL highlighted its commitment to corporate social responsibility, citing its second annual community medical outreach, held on November 8 and 9. The initiative provided healthcare services to nearly 2,000 people, including residents of Imogbara, Odo-Ijesha, and Iperindo, as well as local prison inmates. Services included consultations, advanced diagnostics, medication distribution, surgical bookings, and health awareness campaigns.
On October 18, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) recognised SROL as one of the top 10 non-oil exporters in Nigeria. The company reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development and improving the well-being of its host communities. It expressed gratitude to stakeholders and partners for their support and pledged to continue fostering progress and innovation.
