The Kwara State Government has assured stakeholders in the solid minerals sector of a collaborative and enabling environment to enhance mining practices and boost state development.

Dr. Afeez Abolore Alabi, Commissioner for Solid Minerals, delivered this assurance during a courtesy visit from members of the Mineral Resources and Environment Management Committee (MIREMCO) earlier this week. Alabi reiterated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to positioning Kwara as an investment-friendly hub, highlighting the administration’s resolve to transform the state’s solid minerals sector into a key driver of economic growth.
He urged stakeholders to foster robust collaboration to further strengthen mining activities and optimise benefits for all involved.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Solid Minerals, TPL Yinka Olokooba, echoed the Commissioner’s sentiments, reaffirming the government’s dedication to advancing mining operations in the state.
Engr Lamidi Maruf, a Mines Officer and MIREMCO representative, outlined the benefits of aligning with the Ministry, including fostering community growth and generating revenue for the state. He also called on the Commissioner to extend government presence to rural mining areas, underscoring the potential for increased economic activities in those regions.
The Kwara State Government’s engagement with stakeholders reflects its broader strategy to ensure sustainable development and responsible mining practices while supporting local communities and advancing the state’s mineral resources sector.
