Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has stressed the importance of embracing innovation and technology to accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s mining sector.
Speaking at the 60th Annual International Conference and Exhibition of the Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) in Abuja, Alake highlighted the need for digital transformation and strategic partnerships to fully exploit the country’s abundant mineral resources.

Represented by Mary Ogbe, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Alake stated, “Innovation is the cornerstone of sustainable growth, and through technology, research, and strategic partnerships, we can unlock new opportunities for development,”
He also pointed to the global trend where mining operations are increasingly incorporating artificial intelligence, automation, and digital mapping technologies to enhance exploration, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
