The Governor of Zamfara state has denied any involvement in allegations circulating on social media that suggested it had given large sums of money to some bandit kingpins in exchange for communication within the state. In a Thursday news conference in Gusau, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Abubakar Nakwada declared that the documents “were not only fake but also mischievous, misleading, malicious, and false.”

    According to Nakwada, the material was wholly untrue, and the documents that certain social media outlets were circulating that bore his signature and the signatures of other prominent government officials were falsified. He stated that the security services had received the necessary training and were in the process of locating the social media source.
