House Committee Commends NSCDC for Efforts in Securing Mining Sector

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has directed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to present a detailed schedule of the Mining Marshals’ activities within four weeks. This request comes as lawmakers commend the Corps for its efforts in tackling illegal mining across the country.

    The committee praised the Mining Marshals for their proactive role in curbing illicit activities within the sector, acknowledging the initiatives spearheaded by NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to create a safer and more regulated mining environment. Lawmakers expressed confidence in the Marshals’ operational strategies and their determination to combat economic sabotage.

    “We are highly impressed by the Mining Marshals’ dedication to protecting the nation from criminals and economic saboteurs,” the lawmakers stated.

    Speaking on behalf of the NSCDC Commandant General, Mining Marshals Commander John Attah provided an overview of the Marshals’ achievements. He assured the committee of the Corps’ commitment to upholding due process and ensuring that all cases of illegal mining are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted with fairness.

    Attah also emphasised that the NSCDC has been strengthened and repositioned to fulfil its responsibilities with diligence and dedication. He reassured the committee that no obstacle would deter the Corps from its mission to maintain order and security within Nigeria’s mining industry.
