HJS South Africa officially launched on February 21, 2025, at the Rustenburg Golf Club, marking a major step forward in emission control technology for the mining industry. The event gathered industry leaders, government officials, and global stakeholders to discuss cutting-edge solutions for reducing diesel emissions in underground mining operations.
The event opened with André Robberts, Managing Director of HJS South Africa, who welcomed attendees and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to OEM exhaust after-treatment and emission-reduction solutions.
Robin Trompetter, CEO of HJS Emission Technology, then introduced the company’s innovative product range, showcasing its commitment to cleaner air and safer working conditions in mining.

In the keynote address, Dr. Amu Modau, Operations SHERQ Manager at ARM Platinum and Coal, presented findings from her research on diesel exhaust exposure in South African platinum mines. She highlighted the critical role of diesel particulate filtration in protecting mine workers and reducing Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) exposure.
Constance Kekana, Director of Occupational Hygiene at the Department of Mineral Resources South Africa (DMR), provided key regulatory updates on mining emissions compliance, stressing the importance of adopting advanced filtration systems.
The event attracted international guests from Deutz, Bosch Rexroth, Fluid Competence, Total Energies, and executives from HJS Emission Technology Germany. Key mining representatives included Sibanye Stillwater, Sandvik, Samancor, Komatsu Underground, and Impala Platinum.
Despite rainy weather that flooded the golf course, the event maintained an energetic atmosphere with networking opportunities, industry discussions, and entertainment.
