Ecobank Nigeria has partnered with Women in Mining in Nigeria (WIMIN) ahead of its upcoming annual Gold & Gemstone Conference & Exhibition (GGCE).
In a statement released on Tuesday, the three-day event is set to be held from September 26 to 28 in Lagos.
The bank highlighted that the WIMIN Gold and Gemstone Conference and Exhibition seeks to revolutionise Nigeria’s mining industry, particularly in enhancing the role of women.
Led by its founder, Janet Adeyemi, WIMIN has been at the forefront of empowering women and fostering innovation in the mining sector.
This year’s GGCE marks a significant moment, as it will be merged with the African Gem and Jewellery Conference and Exhibition, drawing participants from all over the continent.
According to WIMIN, the event will feature an array of stunning gold and gemstone jewellery, cutting-edge mining technologies, and a focus on sustainable practices.
Adeyemi shared her excitement, saying, “This event is a testament to the power of women in the mining industry. By providing a platform for collaboration and empowerment, we are driving positive change and shaping the future of Nigeria’s gemstone sector.”
Adesuwa Dan-Princewill, Chairman of the WIMIN Gold and Gemstone Conference and Exhibition, stressed the critical need for value addition and collaboration in the mining sector.
“WIMIN GGCE Lagos provides a unique platform for the jewellery trade in Nigeria. By bringing together women from across the continent, we are fostering innovation and driving value addition in the mining sector,” she said.
Omoboye Odu, Head of SMEs, Partnerships, and Collaborations at Ecobank Nigeria, reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that align with its corporate social responsibility goals.
“Our guiding principle for Ecobank’s CSR activities is to contribute to the economic development and financial integration of Africa. We are committed to helping professional organisations succeed. This conference will be immensely beneficial for participants and will open new opportunities in the mining and jewellery-making industries,” she affirmed.
