Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, this week visited Chinese companies operating at the Bong Mining Project site in Bong County to conduct safety assessments and encourage progress on the project.
During the visit, Ambassador Yin urged the companies to fast-track the commissioning of operations and deepen practical cooperation in the mining industry between China and Liberia. He also called on them to comply strictly with Liberian laws, prioritise workplace safety, and actively uphold their corporate social responsibilities. These actions, he noted, would support the implementation of key outcomes from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit and reflect the shared vision of both nations’ leaders.
In response, representatives of the Chinese firms reaffirmed their commitment to resuming operations and meeting all relevant obligations. They reiterated their support for Liberia’s economic and social advancement and pledged to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two countries.
