Dr Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, Executive Director of Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) and Group Managing Director of Richflood Group, has been recognised as one of the 2024 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining (WIM100). This accolade, awarded by Women in Mining UK, honours her exceptional leadership and contributions to promoting inclusivity, sustainability, and transformation in the global mining industry.
The award ceremony, held at BMO and the Institute of Directors in London, brought together mining leaders worldwide to celebrate women championing innovation and responsible mining practices. Dr Asokoro-Ogaji was the sole Nigerian recipient and one of 25 African honourees, underscoring her impact on Africa’s mining sector and her advocacy for women’s inclusion and leadership within the industry.
“This recognition highlights the resilience and dedication of African women in reshaping the mining landscape,” Dr Asokoro-Ogaji said. She emphasised the importance of sustainable practices and creating pathways for future leaders in the mining sector.
Women named in the WIM100 are celebrated for their pioneering roles, dedication to sustainable mining, and efforts to foster inclusivity. Honourees undergo a rigorous selection process that evaluates their leadership and innovative contributions to the industry.
As part of the recognition, Dr Asokoro-Ogaji and fellow awardees will attend the Resourcing Tomorrow event, a platform for connecting with over 500 investors, aimed at driving investment and advancing solid mineral operations across Africa.
